Manchester City managed to sneak a draw at Lyon on Tuesday night, with Sergio Aguero snatching a late point for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Maxwel Cornet struck twice for Lyon in the second half, with an Aymeric Laporte equaliser in between, before Aguero glanced home a header to make it 2-2.

City remain in a strong position to reach the knockout stages of the competition, but were given a real run for their money by an exciting Lyon side, who have already beaten them once this season.

The likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Nabil Fekir and Memphis Depay have all earned huge praise off the back of their development with Lyon, but Pep Guardiola had huge praise for another star.

Guardiola was quoted by L’Equipe as saying that midfielder Houssem Aouar is ‘incredible’; huge praise from the City boss for a playmaker who is just 20 years of age.

A homegrown talent with exceptional technical ability, Aouar is one of the top young creative midfielders in the world, and it’s no surprise that he would be of interest to Guardiola, a manager who regularly pushes a beautiful style of play.

Guardiola’s comments may just hint that City are keen on signing Aouar, adding another outstanding midfielder to options like Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva, Bernardo Silva, Ilkay Gundogan and Phil Foden.

Another midfielder may not be a huge priority, but Guardiola’s comments may be a nod to City attemping to land Aouar in 2019, especially with links to other Premier League clubs already.
