Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has made a title admission about Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur with the season kicking off.

The Premier League champions kicked off their title hopes with a comfortable 2-0 victory for Manchester City against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge with Erling Haaland continuing his extraordinary goalscoring form.

As for Tottenham Hotspur, the Lilywhites drew 1-1 against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium with Spurs’ new signing Dominic Solanke making his debut for the North London club but Spurs were ultimately disappointed to come away from newly promoted Leicester with just a point.

Despite Ange Postecoglou’s side already dropping points at the King Power Stadium, City boss Pep Guardiola has made an admission about Spurs’ chance for the title.

Pep Guardiola makes Spurs title admission

During the days of Mauricio Pochettino, Tottenham were in back-to-back title races with Leicester and Chelsea but the young, exciting and dynamic Spurs side fell short of England’s ultimate

Since then, the North London club have not been consistently in the title race with perhaps the first half of the 2020/2021 campaign under Jose Mourinho being the last time they were near the summit of the division.

Well, speaking to Men In Blazers, City boss Guardiola believes that Spurs could be in the title race this season after the additions they have made to their team.

“Tottenham will be there (in the Premier League title race) because of the way they play,” Guardiola said.

With Arsenal surely the big contenders for City this season, it would be a surprise to see another side stake their claim to be in the title race.

Spurs’ super summer should give club a chance

During the off-season, Spurs had a positive summer window with the Lilywhites signing Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray from under the noses of Thomas Frank’s Brentford.

As well as this, Spurs broke the bank to replace Harry Kane, who departed North London for Bayern Munich back in the summer of 2023.

Spurs completed the signing of Dominic Solanke for £65 million after talks with Bournemouth to get the deal over the line for the English forward.

Whilst the start to the season wasn’t an ideal one for Spurs, the additions they have made this summer could see them nearer to the summit of the division.
