Pep Guardiola has told Friday’s press conference – as per Manchester Evening News – that Tottenham striker Harry Kane is one of the best players he has seen in his life and not just for goals, but the all-round quality of his game.
Kane, 29, has been in superb form – scoring 18 in 29 games. Of those, 16 have come in 21 League matches. The England skipper is breaking records. He has the chance to break another one on Sunday, 200 Premier League goals.
It would see him become only the third player to do it, with Wayne Rooney on 208 – and Alan Shearer on a massive 260. Of course, there is another striker in the Premier League with the potential to reach that number, at City.
Haaland, at just 22, has 31 goals in 27 games this season. Of those 31, 25 have come in the Premier League. He may easily reach a huge 40, or more League goals, come May. Guardiola commented on both, raving about Spurs’ Kane.

“I’m extremely happy with Erling. Of course, Tottenham are happy with Kane. What an exceptional player. The numbers he has done, more than the goals but the quaility. They didn’t win a title so he’s not a good player?
“He has proved statistics isn’t in the titles. He remains one of the best strikers I have seen in my life. Are managers bad if they don’t win titles? Tottenham are happy to have him, we’re happy with Erling who can give us many years.”
Guardiola: Tottenham striker Kane one of the best players he has seen
What a player, Kane is. He has 12 goals in his last 16 Premier League games, he continues to churn out moments that keeps Spurs afloat. On Sunday, he and Spurs will have to be at their best to get one over Guardiola’s City.
Spurs have come as a bit of a bogey team for City – who are not firing on all cylinders at the moment. Even in their last meeting, Spurs went 2-0 ahead before shipping four goals in the second half. Spurs have every chance.
But if they are going to get a result then they need Kane to be firing. They need the England star to score his 200th Premier League goal and perhaps, surpass that figure. Not just to beat City – but to maintain their top-four push.
