City have won the league title in the English top flight for the past two seasons, but Liverpool are on the verge of clinching the championship this campaign.
Guardiola believes that Arsenal and Tottenham will be among the challengers next season, even though the Gunners and Spurs both could struggle to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this time around.
While analysing the challengers for the Premier League title next season, Guardiola told The Manchester Evening News: “I think every season the opponents get stronger. Liverpool will remain the strong team they are, we are seeing how Chelsea are investing in this transfer market.
“We saw in the last period how Man United made a step forward. Tottenham are going to recover a lot of injured players, with Son, Harry Kane and other players and with an experienced manager like [Jose] Mourinho they are always going to be strong.
“Arsenal with more time with Mikel [Arteta] is going to happen – and Leicester you know.”
Unrealistic?
While Guardiola may speak highly of Arsenal and Tottenham and consider them as challengers next season, it is hard to see the North London rivals compete with City and Liverpool for the Premier League title during the 2020-21 campaign.
Mikel Arteta’s side and Jose Mourinho’s team will be aiming for the Champions League places, as the Reds and the Citizens are miles ahead of them.
Arsenal are as low as 10th in the Premier League table at the moment, while Tottenham are two points above them in eighth place in the standings.
