Liverpool are interested in signing Youri Tielemans from Leicester City, Het Nieuwsblad report, and if they do then they may draw some envious glances from those close to Manchester City.
The news broke yesterday that Liverpool were keen on the Leicester midfielder, after his excellent campaign.
Tielemans scored the winner in the FA Cup final for the Foxes, but he has been a consistent performer throughout the season for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
His displays have seemingly impressed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.
But he has also caught the eye of both City boss Pep Guardiola and their former defender Vincent Kompany.
“Tielemans is a top, top class player,” Guardiola said just last month.
“I remember when I arrive my first season and Vincent Kompany started speaking about him when he was in the national team for Belgium how good he was in that period. Vincent as always he was right.”
Ideal signing?
Those quotes should only serve to make Tielemans an even more exciting potential addition for Liverpool.

If the Reds could land him then Georginio Wijnaldum’s exit may be quickly forgotten about.
Wijnaldum has been a key player for Klopp’s side over a number of years, but Tielemans may actually be an upgrade.
The Belgian is more dynamic going forward and also is considerably younger than Liverpool’s Dutch international.
With Liverpool looking to fight their way back into title contention next season, they will need to inject some quality into their squad to compete with City.
And what better way to that then to sign a player who Guardiola already thinks is ‘top class’?
