Mauricio Pochettino’s men closed the gap at the top of the Premier League table to just one point.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola
Pep Guardiola has conceded that Tottenham Hotspur deserved their 2-0 victory over Manchester City on Sunday, the London Evening Standard reports.
An early own goal from Aleksandar Kolarov was followed by a Dele Alli strike eight minutes before the break to hand Mauricio Pochettino’s men the three points that see them move to within one point of the Citizens at the top of the table.

And following his first defeat since taking over in the summer, Guardiola has admitted that the right team won at White Hart Lane.
“They were better, it can happen,” he said, as reported by the London Evening Standard. “They were one step in front of us today. We have to accept it and learn from that.

“We lost a lot of balls in places that were dangerous. They won the second balls, we had problems with that. It was a little bit difficult in that sense to control.”
The result has surely confirmed that Spurs will be in the hunt for the title this season. After a slightly lacklustre start to the new campaign – that was understandable given how last year ended, and how most of the squad fared at the European Championships – Pochettino’s men have enjoyed a blistering run of form.

The victory over City was their fourth consecutive win in the top flight, so they will have plenty of momentum to take into the first games following the international break.
And if City’s failure to win either of their last two games in all competitions signals the beginning of a poor run of form, then Tottenham will fancy their chances of seizing the initiative in the title race.
