Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves is reportedly on the radar of Manchester City and Arsenal.
According to The Telegraph, City, Arsenal and Juventus are interested in Wolves ace Neves.
The report has also claimed that the Wanderers do not want to sell the 21-year-old midfielder in the January transfer window.
City manager Guardiola has praised the Portugal international, but the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich head coach has made it clear that the Citizens will not pay £100m for the former FC Porto star.
Guardiola told The Guardian when put to him that Neves might be the type of player required to replace Fernandinho: “He’s an excellent player but there are many clubs in the world, many holding midfielders in the world, and most of them can play here. That’s not the point.
“Most of them are under contracts. A month ago, I started reading – ‘Ruben Neves, £100m’. That is not going to happen, we are not going to pay £100m for a holding midfielder.”
Future move to Manchester City?
From Guardiola’s aforementioned comments, it is clear that the City manager does rate Neves highly.
With Fernandinho now 33 years of age, the Citizens will have to start searching for new a holding midfielder, and Neves will be a good long-term replacement for the Brazil international.
It is very unlikely that Wolves will sell Neves in the January transfer window, but perhaps in the summer of 2019, the Wanderers could be persuaded with a big offer.
