Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has told The Guardian that Arsenal and Chelsea are improving.
Guardiola has also stated that Liverpool are “fantastic”, as the Reds aim to stop City from winning the Premier League title for the third season in a row.
Guardiola told The Guardian: “Of course I still want to win, and I still believe we are contenders, but there is a long way to go and all sorts of dynamics, momentums and injuries still to happen.
“If we don’t win I will say congratulations to the team that does. What Liverpool are doing is fantastic but Chelsea and Arsenal are also getting better. The level is rising all the time.”
Encouraging observation
While Guardiola’s observation about Arsenal and Chelsea may not be exactly unique and is seemingly obvious, it shows that even the best of managers are noticing a change in the two London clubs.
The Gunners are doing well at the moment and are fighting for a top-four finish in the Premier League table this season, while the Blues are playing wonderful football and are giving chances to young players under manager Frank Lampard.
Of course, neither Arsenal nor Chelsea are at the level of City or Liverpool yet, but the signs are very positive in terms of their long-term success.
Perhaps in the next two or three years, both Arsenal and Chelsea will be in a position to truly challenge Liverpool and City for the Premier League title.
