Pep Guardiola admits ‘Kane team’ remark about Tottenham was completely wrong

Manchester City travel to take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League today.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has told The Guardian that Tottenham Hotspur have proven him entirely wrong about his ‘Kane team’ comment.

City travel to Wembley Stadium tonight in order to take in Spurs in a tantalising encounter, even with the problems with the Wembley pitch heading into the game.

Wembley hosted the NFL clash between the Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, meaning the pitch is in tatters ahead of tonight’s clash.

It’s far from ideal for either side, but it shouldn’t overshadow a heavyweight clash between two teams with world class players on show all over the pitch.

City will be calling upon the likes of Sergio Aguero, David Silva and possibly even Kevin De Bruyne for tonight’s game, whilst Spurs can welcome back Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli to supply star striker Harry Kane.

Kane will be going up against City a year since their boss Guardiola called Tottenham ‘the Kane team’, suggesting that Spurs are something of a one-man team thanks to the England striker.

Now though, Guardiola has offered something of an update on that comment, admitting; “They have shown me how wrong I was,” with Guardiola clearly feeling that Spurs are much, much more than just Kane.

Kane will remain Tottenham’s biggest threat against City tonight and for basically every game, but with a strong defence and creative players going forward, Spurs are certainly more than a one-man team.
