Leeds United assistant manager Pep Clotet has told BBC Radio Leeds that Pontus Jansson had a fever, so couldn’t play against Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday.
The Whites are into the last 16 of the EFL Cup as they beat Blackburn 1-0 at Elland Road, with Chris Wood’s 85th minute header handing Leeds the victory and a passage into the next round.

With three wins in a row in all competitions, Garry Monk’s men are gathering momentum, and he’ll be particularly pleased to have picked up a win having rotated his side from Saturday’s win over Cardiff City.
Some players were rested but others appear to be injured, and assistant manager Pep Clotet has shed some light on situations surrounding four players.

Midielder Liam Bridcutt again missed out, and having been asked by BBC Radio Leeds about the captain’s absence, Clotet stated that Leeds didn’t want to rush Bridcutt back into action, and subsequently chose to be cautious.
“We don’t want to rush him, as the Championship is a very tough competition,” said Clotet. “If you rush too much on trying to bring the players in too early, you’re going to have more problems in the future, so it’s better to be cautious. We felt being cautious was the right thing for him today.”
Clotet was then quizzed about winger Hadi Sacko’s omission from the squad, with the Spaniard revealing that he was simply rested, but defender Pontus Jansson missed out as he was suffering from a fever on Monday, and should be okay.

Midfielder Eunan O’Kane played 90 minutes against Blackburn, and Clotet stated that whilst the Irishman has a knock on his ankle, he isn’t expecting today’s assessment to bring back a serious injury.
“Hadi was resting, and Pontus could play but yesterday he felt a little bit of a fever, so we preferred to rest him a little bit, he’s going to be alright tomorrow. O’Kane has a knock on the ankle, they are going to assess now and we will know more tomorrow, but I don’t think it’s going to be much,” he added.
