Pep Clotet, whose departure from Leeds United was announced this week, has confirmed that he will not be joining Garry Monk at Middlesbrough.

Pep Clotet has taken to Twitter for the first time since Leeds director of football Victor Orta confirmed that the Spaniard would be leaving the club (via Yorkshire Evening Post), and has confirmed that he will not be linking up with Garry Monk in his new job at Middlesbrough.
Clotet arrived at Leeds with Monk last summer, remaining his assistant manager having performed the same role when the retired defender was in charge at Swansea City.
But despite Monk’s departure from Elland Road being confirmed last month, Clotet’s future with the Whites appeared to be more up in the air, with the 40-year-old even being listed amongst the favourites to succeed Monk with the bookmakers.
The Yorkshire Evening Post reported that while Clotet was not actually a contender to receive the top job from Andrea Radrizzani, he was seemingly the most likely member of Monk’s backroom team to remain at Leeds instead of joining him at the Riverside Stadium.
Some may have expected Clotet to continue working with Monk following his move to Middlesbrough
However, Orta confirmed during the press conference unveiling of Monk’s actual successor Thomas Christiansen that all of Monk’s team, including Clotet, would be leaving the club (via Yorkshire Evening Post).
And Clotet has now confirmed in a couple of tweets that while he will be seeking a new challenge, it will not be alongside Monk at Boro.
Monk also took to Twitter to respond to the message, wishing his former assistant the best of luck in whatever role he takes up next.
