Kemar Roofe has started the new season in blistering form for Leeds.
Leeds’ former assistant head coach Pep Clotet claims that attacker Kemar Roofe will have a fantastic season at Elland Road.
The 25-year-old has already made a stunning start to the new campaign, scoring four goals and supplying two assists in the opening six Championship fixtures.
He has managed to cement his position as the first-choice striker under new manager Marcelo Bielsa, who is beginning to get the best out of him.
Clotet insists that Bielsa has purposely set out his team so far to get the best out of his English centre-forward, something which helped him win the Championship Player of the Month for August.
Clotet was at the Yorkshire giants when Roofe joined in 2016, but is now the assistant boss at Championship side Birmingham.
“Bielsa has got everything linked together around him (Roofe) and a way of playing that can maximise his abilities. I think he’s going to have a fantastic season,” Clotet told Sky Sports.
Roofe is now getting a regular run of games in his favoured central position in attack and is making the most of it.
The speed machine may have scored 14 goals in all competitions last season, but looks on course to better that tally based on his displays for Bielsa’s side.
He will now have more pressure on him to deliver in front of goal after the international break, as alternative forward option Patrick Bamford is set for four months on the sidelines through injury.
