Speaking on the Spurs Versus podcast, former Leeds player Andy Couzens has shared what Leeds United were doing just 24 hours before beating Tottenham.

Couzens, as a former United player, has a number of contacts within the club, and they claim that Leeds were actually taking part in the infamous ‘murderball’ session the day before their game against Spurs.

“We talk about fitness levels and stuff like that. I’ve got some people within the club, and they said they played murderball on Friday. They say murderball is the most horrendous thing the hardest session you’ll ever do, and they’re playing it before the game,” Couzens said.

“Back when I played it was 5-a-side and set pieces, rest as much as you can, and the fitness levels showed against Spurs, I watched it again on Match of the Day, and there are a few of your guys who need to take a look at themselves fitness wise.”

The fact that Bielsa had his team playing murderball the day before a game like this is absolutely insane.

Leeds’ season is pretty much done and dusted, and after 30-odd games this season, the players are deserving of a bit of a rest and a lighter schedule.

However, this is Bielsa we’re talking about here, so that was never going to be likely.

The extra fitness training seemingly paid off as well as Leeds beat Tottenham 3-1 at the weekend.
