Tottenham Hotspur announced today that Danny Rose has left the club.

Rose is finally out of contract with the Lilywhites and an extension was never going to be offered, having not made a senior appearance all season.

It’s quite a fall from grace for a player who was among Europe’s best left-backs for a couple of years under former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.

The 30-year-old had some games playing with the youngsters at Hotspur Way during the 2020-21 campaign, making a handful of Premier League 2 appearances.

And one of those youngsters – Elliot Thorpe – has sent a glowing tweet about Rose, claiming he helped him and other academy stars immensely.

Stock gone up

Rose’s stock hasn’t exactly been high among Tottenham fans over the past couple of years.

But this revelation will surely make supporters think of him in quite a different light.

At least when he was exiled, he was lending his knowledge and experience to the players of tomorrow and that, it has to be said, is quite admirable.

It’s anyone’s guess where Rose is going to end up but considering he’s only 30, he’s still young enough to be a big player for another Premier League club.
