Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to reveal that they think Patrick Bamford has been robbed of one thing – a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

The ex-Chelsea striker – a favourite of Marcelo Bielsa’s having started 43 Championship games last season, and all three Premier League fixtures so far this term – has enjoyed a fine opening to the campaign.

The 27-year-old has netted three goals in his first three Premier League appearances this season, while also grabbing one assist.

Despite that, Southgate clearly wasn’t keen to hand the Leeds No.9 a maiden call-up to the Three Lions squad.

Bamford has never featured for England’s senior side, despite appearing at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 level for his country – Southgate actually managed the Leeds star while in charge of the Under-21 side.

Despite his excellent start to the campaign, the likes of Tammy Abraham, Danny Ings, Harry Kane and Marcus Rashford have been called up ahead of him.

Southgate may presumably feel that he wants to see more of Bamford in top-flight action before making such a call.

However, it would’ve been especially romantic to see the striker appear for his country, having suffered disappointing stints at Crystal Palace, Norwich and Burnley.

Let’s see what the Leeds fans on Twitter have been saying…
