James Maddison lauded Tottenham striker Harry Kane on Twitter last night, after England smashed Ukraine 4-0 in Rome and claimed he is the ‘best centre-forward in the world’.
The Three Lions progressed to the semi-finals of Euro 2020 on Saturday evening, with the Spurs man netting a brace.
During the group stages, Kane didn’t score for his country, with many raising questions about the player, his form and fitness.
But when it mattered most – during the knockout stages – Kane scored against Germany and then caused havoc against Ukraine last night.
And Spurs fans will love what Leicester’s Maddison had to say about his fellow countryman on his personal social media account after ‘people tried to talk’.
Kane has shut a lot of critics up and now he’s gone from questions being asked of him to the opposition utterly fearing him.
He scored two in Rome yesterday but it could have been a lot more, including a sensational Marco van Basten-esque volley with his weaker foot from outside of the area.
There’s no doubt that Denmark will be a tougher opposition for England at Wembley next Wednesday.
But when Kane is in this form, he is one of the best number nine’s in the world, no doubt.
One man who knows all about Kane is Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and he will be lining up on the other side next week.
Facing him in training is one thing, but trying to stop him in front of 60,000 roaring English fans next week, with the likes of Raheem Sterling running riot around him, is another thing altogether.
