Marcelo Bielsa reportedly thinks Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw is perfect for Champions League football.
Forshaw has endured a horrific two-year injury battle and has only played a handful of games since then.
Leeds spent £4.5 million on signing the Liverpudlian almost four years ago.
He has missed so much of the Whites’ resurgence as a Premier League force.
But Bielsa is apparently a major admirer of the 30-year-old and his qualities.
Phil Hay, who exclusively covers Leeds for The Athletic, claims that people told him Bielsa feels that Forshaw would suit a club in Europe’s elite competition.
He said on his podcast: “People told me that privately Bielsa thinks that Forshaw would suit a Champions League side because of the way he plays and because of what he does.
“The simple passing, he can facilitate gaps in space and allows your most talented players to do their thing and he genuinely feels that he could be at that level.”
Tragic
In a way, this makes Forshaw’s injury struggles all the more tragic.
Bielsa is clearly a massive fan and if he feels that the former Middlesbrough man is equipped to compete at the highest level, it’s sad that even Premier League football on a regular basis has been a pie in the sky.
On a positive note, Forshaw is fit at the moment and will hope to play a part in Leeds’ trip to Tottenham next Sunday.
He has played 178 minutes in the Premier League under Bielsa so far this season.
