Mina Rzouki has claimed that the people of AC Milan think Liverpool legend Divock Origi can become a ‘fan favourite’ at the San Siro.

The Italian journalist added that there is ‘a lot of excitement’ around Origi securing a free-transfer to the club this summer, as she told Sky Sports News.

With Origi’s contract at Anfield due to officially expire at the end of June, the 27-year-old is heading to Italy and donning the colours of the Serie A champions.

Origi’s transfer to AC Milan hasn’t been confirmed yet, but he has been pictured in Italy getting ready to complete his move and start a new chapter in his footballing career.

Nonetheless, this is what Rzouki shared of Origi and how the Belgian is being viewed upon first glance of his arrival in Milan.

“There is a lot of excitement,” said Rzouki. “He’s very excited to be there. I think he is very much the type of player they were looking for.

“He was a fan favourite when he was at Liverpool. People think he will be a fan favourite over there at Milan. He is not expensive and very much what they are looking, so this is a very exciting signing for them.”

A MAN FOR BIG MOMENTS

Time and time again, Origi was a man for big moments for Liverpool, from goals in the Merseyside derby to special moments in the Champions League.

At Anfield, he was never a regular starter and he just couldn’t break in front of the formidable front three that Jurgen Klopp had built over the years – Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah.

But this is his chance to earn those regular minutes and it will be interesting to see how he fares and whether he can hit the big hauls, in terms of goals.

Ironically enough, Origi scored against AC Milan in the Champions League last season, so could the two European giants be pitted against one another again next term?

One thing is for sure, if they do, then Origi will get a hero’s welcome from the Liverpool supporters.
