Jamie Carragher has shared an honest verdict on Wolves and their relationship with Jorge Mendes, when discussing Kia Joorabchian’s influence at Arsenal.
In his column for The Telegraph, Carragher wrote: ‘I have nothing against clubs having a good relationship with agents. It is part of the modern game. But that collaboration must be mutually beneficial.
‘People sneer at Wolverhampton Wanderers for being so close to Jorge Mendes, but Mendes is supplying Nuno Espirito Santo with young, hungry players who suit how he wants to play. They perform well, maximise value and move on for big fees. Everyone wins.’
You simply can’t argue with the Sky Sports pundit’s claims.
Yes, Mendes has filled Molineux with plenty of his Portuguese clients, and he has shown no affection in keeping them at Wolves either.

That was evident when he orchestrated Matt Doherty and Diogo Jota’s exits from the Midlands over the summer, as the Irish Times document.
However, as Carragher mentions, it is mutually beneficial, as Mendes doesn’t tend to leave Nuno in a sticky situation with these dealings.
A prime example of that can be seen in what Mendes did after moving Doherty to Tottenham.
The agent of Cristiano Ronaldo reacted to that by negotiating a deal for another client of his, Nelson Semedo, to move to Wolves.

Of course, it goes without saying that Mendes profits from doing so. But as Carragher states, it’s mutually beneficial for Wolves as they replaced a top right-back with another top right-back.
It might upset supporters when the Mendes clients they’ve grown fond of depart.
However, the super agent always tends to bring another stellar name to Molineux to compensate for that.
