Speaking on RedMen TV, Neil Jones has been discussing Liverpool’s pursuit of Enzo Fernandez and reports that an agreement has been reached to sign the Argentine.
The journalist is well-connected within Liverpool, and according to the reporter, the recent reports surrounding the Argentine are wide of the mark.
Indeed, while he says that Fernandez is a player of interest to the Reds, Jones claims that people within the club are denying the idea that there is an agreement in place with the player.
However, to add more fuel to the fire, Jones did add the caveat that people within the club don’t necessarily have to tell the truth with every story.

Liverpool denying Fernandez story
Jones shared what he knows about these reports.
“He looks like a player that will be in the frame to move to an elite club. Benfica are a selling club, they will never hang onto the likes of Darwin Nunez and Ruben Dias, that’s there model,” Jones said.
“We’ll see with Liverpool. The people I spoke to at Liverpool say there’s no agreement, that’s what they’ve said, that is not true. We’ll see though, they don’t have to tell the truth in situations like that, but I don’t think Liverpool are at a stage of agreeing anything yet. I think it’s more a player of interest and we’ll see what will be done.”
Great player
Regardless of whether or not Liverpool do have an agreement in place with Fernandez or not, this is a player they should be trying to sign.
As the World Cup has shown, the Argentine is a wonderful talent, and at the age of just 21, he could be a star for years to come for the Reds.
The Merseyside club clearly love a signing from Portugal, having brought Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz in over the past 12 months, and perhaps Fernandez could be the next arrival at Anfield.
