Speaking on the Ornstein & Chapman Podcast, David Ornstein has shared an insight into what he’s been told about Arsenal’s summer transfer window.

The Gunners have endured what has to be described as an underwhelming season, and as you can imagine, the summer will be crucial in terms of reshaping the squad.

Ornstein says that people have suggested to him that Arsenal could actually raise more money than most clubs through player sales this summer.

“They have the opportunity to raise quite a lot of money if you think of the players who have been linked with moves away. The likes of Hector Bellerin, Torreira, Guendouzi, Reiss Nelson the rumours around Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette.

“People have suggested to me that Arsenal have the potential to raise more money this summer than most clubs, then it’s about how it will be re-invested. Are they going to recruit a centre-back? Backup at full-back, maybe a midfielder or a striker if one leaves.”

That’s the beauty of having a talented academy and a bloated squad.

Yes, Arsenal haven’t been good enough this season, but individually, their players aren’t terrible footballers.

The likes of Nketiah, Nelson and Bellerin have only seen their value increase since breaking through at Arsenal, while losing the likes of Torreira and Guendouzi won’t be huge blows as they’ve not been in the squad this season.

Most football clubs will be scrambling to raise money this summer due to the financial impact of the pandemic, but Arsenal can cash in on some of their unwanted stars to give them a bit of an advantage.
