Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Callum Wilson has been chatting about some of the hijinks that go on at Newcastle United, and how nobody would dare prank Jamaal Lascelles.

Wilson says that there are plenty of pranksters in the Magpies’ squad, with jokes varying from cutting up people’s socks to causing havoc with other people’s cars, but he says that nobody would dare mess with Lascelles.

Indeed, Wilson claims that because of Lascelles’ stature, nobody pranks him because of the potential repercussions.

What’s been said about Lascelles?

Wilson was speaking about some of the pranks that happen at Newcastle and which players are and aren’t targeted.

“Allan just keeps himself to himself and he just wouldn’t get it. Other guys like Jamaal Lascelles and the bigger guys, it usually doesn’t happen to them because I think people are scared of what consequences could happen afterwards,” Wilson said.

Don’t blame them

To be honest, we absolutely don’t blame the Newcastle players for leaving Lascelles alone, we wouldn’t want a 6 ft 3 man-mountain of a centre-half angry at us either.

We’re sure that Lascelles can take a joke just as well as anybody else, but sometimes, it’s simply not worth the risk of getting on the wrong side of somebody, especially when they’re the club captain.

It sounds as though the Newcastle dressing room can be a real laugh, but luckily for Lascelles, he’s seemingly not going to be on the receiving end of any practical jokes at St James’ Park.
