Andros Townsend has said that Chelsea forward Kai Havertz would be a good signing for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

According to The Telegraph, Arsenal are interested in signing Kai Havertz from London and Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that Arsenal remain in talks with Chelsea over the Germany international despite having their initial offer turned down.

Havertz, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a forward and cost Chelsea £75.8 million (Sky Sports) when they signed him, himself is keen on a move to Arsenal, who see him as perfect for their attacking unit.

Former Tottenham Hotspur winger Townsend believes that the 24-year-old would be a good signing for Arsenal, noting how people questioned two of the Gunners’ signings in the summer of 2022.

Townsend said about Havertz and Arsenal rumours: “I think he is a good signing.

“Arteta did that last season. He brought in Jesus, people questioned it. He brought in Zinchenko, people questioned it.

“Looks like he is going to bring in Havertz. People are questioning it, but you have to trust him on the back of what he has done this season.”

Would Chelsea forward Kai Havertz make Arsenal better?

In our opinion, if Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is keen on signing Kai Havertz from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, then the Emirates Stadium faithful should trust his judgement.

Now, Havertz is not a natural number 9, but he did play as a centre-forward for Chelsea last season.

The Germany international is better off playing in a more deeper role where he can create chances, and we believe that Arteta would find a place for him in the team.

And Havertz is only 24.

So, there is still time for the German star to improve and add more facets to his game.
