West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini has a big task on his hands to get West Ham challenging for the European places next season but he has been promised investment in the transfer market.
He is well placed to land a player recognised by many, who West Ham tried to sign in 2015… Gervinho.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported at the time West Ham were keen on Gervinho during his Roma spell, with the Ivory Coast forward value at £10 million.
The 30-year-old has been playing in China for the last two seasons, under none other than Manuel Pellegrini.
Gervinho has three assists in his last six games for Hebei China Fortune, and Pellegrini may be able to tempt him back to the Premier League.
The Ivory Coast attacker has a point to prove after being overlooked at Arsenal in his final season at the club, but managed to net 11 goals in two seasons for the Gunners.
Gervinho has since gone onto score 26 times for Roma in three seasons before making the move to China, where he has been amassing a small fortune.
Pellegrini may stand a chance of tempting the attacker back to Europe for one last time, as at 30 he still has plenty left in the tank.
For the Hammers he is worth taking a chance on if the cost is not too high and he is willing to be realistic in terms of wage demands.
