West Ham United need to sign a new left back in 2019.

West Ham United’s summer transfer business appears to have been successful at this early stage, but one position still needs some attention in the January transfer window.
The Hammers have seen the likes of Lukasz Fabianski, Issa Diop and Felipe Anderson have impressed, whilst Ryan Fredericks, Fabian Balbuena and Andriy Yarmolenko have shown signs of being key players moving forward.
However, recent games have highlighted that West Ham still have a problem at left back, with Arthur Masuaku caught out for Glenn Murray’s goal in Brighton’s 1-0 win over West Ham before the international break.
Aaron Cresswell has been in and out of the side, and the best idea for West Ham is to convert Masuaku into a winger, where has attacking ability would be better served, as we saw under David Moyes, and then bring in another left back.
Manuel Pellegrini and co should already be looking for another option, and Manchester City’s title-winning talent Oleksandr Zinchenko is one player who should fit the bill.
The 21-year-old has found first-team football hard to come by at City, even after converting himself from an attacking midfielder to a left back, and remains behind Benjamin Mendy and Fabian Delph in their pecking order.

A January move may just be on the cards for the former FC Ufa starlet, and a move to West Ham would give him the opportunity to go to West Ham would give him the chance to make that left back spot his own, rather than making do with a bit-part role at City.
Zinchenko would also be able to reunite with Ukraine international teammate Yarmolenko in East London, potentially aiding his settling in period, and giving him existing chemistry with a key West Ham player.
A move may cost in the region of £20million, but that’s the kind of money West Ham may have to spend in order to solve their left back problem – and Pellegrini attempting to strike a deal with his former club for Zinchenko would be a smart idea.
