West Ham United were ripped apart by Liverpool yesterday.

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini addressed the media in the aftermath of his side’s disappointing 4-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield yesterday, and highlighted where the Hammers need to improve in time for next weekend’s clash with Bournemouth, as quoted by Football.London.

The east London outfit were outplayed by the Merseysiders from the very first whistle, with Jürgen Klopp’s men looking quicker, stronger, and generally better than Pellegrini’s side in every single aspect.

Having spent around £100 million on nine new signings, Pellegrini is certainly under some pressure to guide West Ham to at least a top 10 finish this season, if not a European place.

The Hammers have a lot of work to do, though, judging by yesterday’s display at Anfield.

Pellegrini addressed the media immediately after his side’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool, and highlighted what they quite simply must improve upon in time for Saturday’s visit of Bournemouth, as quoted by Football.London:

Manuel Pellegrini during the friendly match between West Ham United and SCO Angers on August 3, 2018 in Grodig, Austria.

“If you want to do the judgement about the score, yes it is difficult but we must be clear that we didn’t attack well, we didn’t create too many chances in the second half. We need to improve so in that sense, I just spoke about some balls that decide the game but we need to be clear and sure that we need to improve.”

The Hammers will be desperate to pick up three points against the Cherries, considering the fact that they travel to the Emirates to take on Arsenal the following week.

And if they are to have any chance against Eddie Howe’s men, they will need to be a far more cohesive unit from the goalkeeper right through to the centre-forward.
