West Ham United drew 1-1 with Huddersfield Town yesterday.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s 1-1 draw with Huddersfield at the John Smith’s Stadium yesterday, and highlighted the major mistake that they made against David Wagner’s men, as quoted by Football.London.
The Hammers currently sit in 13th spot in the Premier League table, having taken 12 points from their opening 12 league outings, and they will surely be disappointed with that return.
West Ham never really got going in the first-half against the Terriers, and found themselves 1-0 down early on, before fighting back to earn a point in the second-half.
Pellegrini spoke to reporters after his side’s draw, and admitted that they made a big mistake in passing the football too much in their own half, as quoted by Football.London:
“I think that our major mistake was to keep the ball too much in our own half. We talked before the game that Huddersfield are a side that likes to press man-to-man, touching with one or two touches. At the beginning, we had space in behind their defenders, dangerous balls but after the goal they scored we got confused, we didn’t play in the right way.”
Next up for West Ham is a home game against Premier League champions Manchester City in two weeks time, and Pellegrini’s men will have to be at their very best, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of taking anything from the game.
