West Ham United are reportedly pushing to sign Lazio’s Felipe Anderson.
According to the Daily Mail, West Ham United are in talks to land Lazio winger Felipe Anderson in a club-record £35million deal.
The Brazilian wide man, 25, hit eight goals and 10 assists for Lazio this past season, and has previously been linked with moves to Chelsea and Manchester United having once been tipped for stardom with the Italian side.
Now, Anderson is in talks to join West Ham and is allegedly keen to work under new Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini, who is no stranger to the winger.
Back in 2015, when Anderson was at the height of his Lazio hype, The Mirror reported that Pellegrini wanted to bring him to Manchester City, though a deal never materialised.
Anderson’s career has somewhat stalled since then; injuries as well as competition from the likes of Keita Balde Diao and Luis Alberto have seen him in and out of the side, and the big clubs around Europe appear to have taken him off their radar for now.
Pellegrini now appears to be keen on taking full advantage of that, and will now look to finally land the samba star in a blockbuster move this summer.
Alongside Manuel Lanzini and Marko Arnautovic, Anderson could give West Ham one of the most exciting attacking forces under Pellegrini, possessing speed and skill out wide.
He may not be quite as highly-regarded as he was three years ago, but Pellegrini seemingly hasn’t forgotten about the player he was so impressed by in 2015.
