Wolves appear to have had a fortunate escape this summer with midfielder Pele choosing to sign with Monaco.
The benefits have come in two different ways.
Pele was tipped early to become Wolves first summer signing, after The Mail reported the club scouted the £9 million rated midfielder.
This appeared likely, before his plans seemed to change. He joined Monaco instead.
Pele’s Monaco move benefitted Wolves almost instantly as the Ligue 1 side allowed Joao Moutinho to move to Molineux.
Wolves boss Nuno Santo clearly got the superior player, and Pele’s Monaco stint shows.
This season he has played just one Ligue 1 game, a 2-0 defeat.
At 27-years-old, he is no youngster who Monaco were hoping to ease in. His start has been disappointing.
Wolves can consider themselves doubly fortunate that he joined Monaco instead.
