Brazil legend Pele says he is confident Liverpool will go on to win the league.

The striker made his comment on Twitter, where he wished a happy birthday to his friend Sir Kenny Dalglish.

Pele said that he backed Liverpool to win the Premier League title before the season and he is sticking by his prediction.

Liverpool are one point behind Manchester City at the top of the table with nine games remaining.

Pele’s show of faith is encouraging for the Reds. Or is it?

Pele is interviewed by Richard Keys during the Football Extravaganza at the Grosvenor House Hotel on October 29, 2013 in London, England.

The three time World Cup winner has a record of making botched predictions.

From tipping Colombia to win the 1994 World Cup (eliminated in the group stages), backing an African country to win the World Cup before the year 2000, he doesn’t have the greatest record.

For Liverpool to even be in the running at this point for the title makes this one of his better tips.
