Tottenham Hotspur playmaker James Maddison has been praised by teammate Pedro Porro after shining against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Pedro Porro has hailed James Maddison after Tottenham Hotspur’s 5-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs were playing their penultimate pre-season friendly as Shakhtar arrived in North London.

The match was dedicated to the people of Ukraine due to the ongoing conflict there and came less than 24 hours after the Game4Ukraine at Stamford Bridge.

This was still a vital warm-up game for Tottenham though and Harry Kane unsurprisingly stole the headlines.

You can’t move for rumours about Kane potentially leaving Tottenham for Bayern Munich but he put that to one side on Sunday.

Kane smashed four goals in a 5-1 Tottenham win with Dane Scarlett adding the fifth in injury time.

Spurs were pegged back to 1-1 by a Kevin Kelsy header but Tottenham kicked on in the second half to run riot.

We also saw new signing James Maddison play an important role.

The £40million arrival from Leicester City won the first-half penalty which set Kane on his way.

Maddison then provided an inch-perfect cross for Kane to head in his second as we his creativity on full display.

The hope is that Maddison and Kane can have a great relationship in the final third for Tottenham – but that will depend on Kane’s future.

Maddison impressed Tottenham fans but also his teammates with right back Pedro Porro offering him praise.

Porro took to Instagram to state ‘what a player’ about Maddison, clearly dazzled by the England international’s display.

Maddison has only been at Tottenham for a few weeks now but Porro seemingly likes what he sees.

The hope is that Maddison will take this form into the Premier League campaign – and maybe impress Porro even more along the way.
