Hammers midfielder Pedro Obiang spoke exclusively to the Daily Star about his side’s struggles at the London Stadium this season, and highlighted how the size of the pitch has made it hard for them to assert themselves in the manner in which they would have liked.
West Ham have the sixth worst home record in the division, after experiencing teething problems with their move from Upton Park to their new home at the start of the season.
Slaven Bilic’s side play host to Premier League leaders Chelsea on Monday night, and will be expecting one of their toughest challenges of their campaign so far.
And Obiang, who has been one of the Hammers’ most important players this term, shared why he and his teammates have failed to reproduce some of the form that helped them finish in seventh position last season, when speaking to the Daily Star:

“I don’t need to explain because clearly, it’s bigger. It’s also difficult to listen to the fans and for us, the pitch is very big.”
The East London outfit will now be looking for a strong finish to their season, and still harbour ambitions of finishing inside the top seven.
In order to achieve that, however, they will need to mount a consistent run of sustained victories over the next month or so, to put pressure on those above them in table.
