Pedro Obiang has admitted on West Ham United’s official website that he has found things difficult at the London Stadium this season.

Obiang moved to West Ham back in the summer of 2015, but he has failed to break into Slaven Bilic’s starting line-up for any length of time.

The central midfielder has only had a bit-part role to play for the Hammers, but he was included in West Ham’s starting team to face Middlesbrough in their last match.

Obiang impressed on his first Premier League appearance of the season, as West Ham picked up a 1-1 draw.

And the Spanish midfielder was delighted to be back in contention for the Hammers.

“I am very happy to be back in the team and when you are playing well and you can help your team it is good for everyone,” he said.

“We have lost many games before the Middlesbrough game and it has been difficult for me but I am happy to be back and to help the team get a draw.”

Obiang was one of a select group of West Ham players to get any credit from their draw against Boro.

The 24-year-old offered good protection to West Ham’s defence, and helped them stop their run of defeats.

Obiang now seems likely to retain his place in West Ham’s starting line-up, when Premier League action returns after the international break.
