Pedro Neto, despite facing internal competition from Estevao Willian at Chelsea, has nothing but praise for his young teammate.
Although much of the talk surrounds changes in the dugout, the squad is quietly focused on their upcoming trip to Manchester City. Enzo Maresca won’t be returning to face his old club.
Neto spoke about how the squad is dealing with the current situation before highlighting one of Chelsea’s brightest young talents.
Pedro Neto impressed by Estevao’s maturity

Making the leap from Brazil to the Premier League isn’t easy for any young player, but Estevao has made it look straightforward.
At just 18, he’s played with the confidence of someone far more experienced and hasn’t shown any of the nerves you might expect from a teenager.
Neto believes that mindset comes down to how he approaches his development, explaining it further in an interview with Sky Sports.
“But what I like about him is that every time he’s open to hear stuff to learn, and he’s always happy and that’s a thing that I like a lot is that you can see that he’s a kid that just wants to play football.”
He arrived at Chelsea carrying expectations as one of South America’s most exciting young prospects, but Estevao hasn’t let any of it go to his head.
Chelsea is filled with experienced players, and Neto says Estevao is eager to take on any advice that helps him grow.
Estevao Willian could see a big increase in game time
There has been mixed reception to how Maresca used Estevao this season. On one hand, his quick adaptation to the Premier League may have been aided by the gradual way in which the Italian broke him in.
Certainly, there were moments when a bit of individual brilliance could have made all the difference. And that’s exactly what Estevao is known for, making those calls for more minutes easy to understand.
It remains to be seen how Chelsea’s next manager will handle Estevao’s development. But there are reasons to believe that he may become an even bigger part of their plans moving forward. And Chelsea fans will certainly be hoping that is the case.
