Rangers attacker Josh Windass struggled under former boss Pedro Caixinha.

Rangers have won four games in a row and there is a new wave of optimism at Ibrox despite the club’s failure to find a permanent manager.

The biggest success during this run has been Josh Windass, who has netted four times in his last seven matches.

Windass’ form has been down to a change of position, the the former Accrington Stanley forward thriving in the centre.

He told STV: “I’ve obviously played the last three or four games down the middle, which is what I prefer to do and I’ve scored a few goals in the last month.”

His success and latest comments shine a further spotlight on former manager Pedro Caixinha’s failure to get the best out of him.

Caixinha even said back in August that he felt Windass’ true position was on the left wing.

He told the Daily Record: “He played more in the wide area and I think it suits him better changing the pattern of playing wide and helping inside.”

Windass has divided opinion among Gers fans, and during Caixinha’s fans many were ready to give up on him and called for the club to sell him.

His recent form has shown he can be a real asset, played in the right position, and is just one more reason why caretaker boss Graeme Murty deserves an extended run in charge to show what he can do.
