Rangers beat Aberdeen 3-0 on Sunday afternoon, much to the delight of Ibrox boss Pedro Caixinha.

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has told the club’s official website that ‘organisation’ and ‘sacrifice’ are the two words he would use to describe his side’s 3-0 win over Aberdeen.

The Gers travelled to Pittodrie on Sunday afternoon knowing that they had to win to stand any chance of claiming second place, given that Aberdeen sat 12 points clear of them.

That lead is now down to nine points after a superb win for Rangers, with three goals in four second half minutes handing Caixinha all three points.

Kenny Miller scored twice inside as many minutes to put Rangers 2-0, and substitute Joe Dodoo then came on to drive home a third in a vital victory for the Gers.

Claiming second place is still an uphill task, but Rangers now have a chance, and also have hope that the future under new manager Caixinha will be a bright one.

Rangers must now follow that up with another victory when they take on Partick Thistle this weekend, and Caixinha will be looking to keep up his unbeaten start to life at Ibrox having won two and drawn two of his four games in charge.

Ahead of that game, Caixinha has reflected on the Aberdeen win by telling the club’s official website that he wants to describe the performance and the victory with just two words; organisation and sacrifice.

The Portuguese boss was delighted with how his players fought for the win, but urged his side to take control of possession, both to calm the game down and reclaim momentum, something he felt Rangers didn’t do in the second half but did in the first against Aberdeen.

“I have the opportunity to describe it in just two words; organisation and sacrifice. That is what I am going to show the players when we meet,” said Caixinha. “There is another point that I need the players to understand which is the momentum and we had that momentum in the first half. I have footage that shows that in the five minutes before roughly the 22nd minute of the game, we had something like 75% of the possession, against 25% from the opponent.”

“That means that when you have an opponent like they were in the second half, that are really strong in the second wave of attack and aggressive doing that offensive process, you need to take the initiative. In order to take the initiative, you need to take the ball and control the game with the ball. If you have the ball, it doesn’t matter if you aren’t attacking the goal, it’s to calm down the game and bring the momentum to you. That’s something important that we did in the first half, which we couldn’t do in the second one in order to sustain all those situations,” he added.
