Pedro Caixinha takes a dig at Ibrox club Rangers

Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers dismissed Pedro Caixinha as the Gers manager in October. Graeme Murty is in temporary charge of the first team.

Former Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has been quoted as saying by The Scottish Sun that Cruz Azul is a bigger challenge for him than Rangers.

Caixinha, who was appointed the Rangers manager in March 2017 and was relieved of his duties in October 2017, has recently been made the boss of Mexican side Cruz Azul.

The Portuguese boss has suggested that his current club is the biggest challenge in his managerial career so far.

Caixinha has also seemed to have taken a dig at Rangers and their fans, suggesting that he was not well received at the Scottish giants.

The Scottish Sun quotes Caixinha as saying when asked if his new role is the toughest of his career: “Yes, it is the biggest challenge.

“If you put all the ingredients, it is bigger, the issue of Rangers also being a great institution was a little different… because when I arrived here, unlike Rangers, I am well-received, here they respect me, here they know me and I know them – so I think that is a very important point.

“The issue of Rangers is a little different, because when you arrived at Rangers it’s a different thing, they respect me here, but yes, it’s my biggest challenge.”

Caixinha was not exactly a success at Rangers despite making a number of his own signings in the summer transfer window.

The Gers are doing well at the moment without him, and recently won three Scottish Premiership games in a row – something that the Portuguese could not do.

Rangers are second in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with Graeme Murty in temporary charge, and will return to action on Wednesday evening when they take on Hibernian away from home at Easter Road in the league.
