Pedro Caixinha has confirmed that Michael O’Halloran will not be involved in the Rangers squad that takes on Partick this weekend, but refused to go into any detail regarding the recent reports surrounding the forward, The Scottish Sun reports.

According to The Scottish Sun, O’Halloran failed to turn up for an under-20s clash that he had been selected for recently, and has since been ordered to train on his own.

And while Caixinha avoided shedding any light on the circumstances surrounding the incident, he did confirm that the Ibrox faithful should not expect to see him involved at the weekend.

“Michael O’Halloran is not part of the squad for the next match,” he said, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

“What happens at home stays at home and I won’t say anymore.”

While there is surely a long way to go before O’Halloran is given the chance to make amends and perhaps even get back into the first-team – if there is any chance at all – Caixinha’s desire to somewhat play the incident down may give the 26-year-old hope that he may be given the chance to turn things around at some stage.

Of course, O’Halloran may have no desire to be at the club beyond this season – which arguably would not be a surprise given the lack of chances he has had in the first-team since arriving last year – but once the dust settles, he may respect that he made a bad call and may want to almost start again.

And Caixinha trying to keep the matter as private as possible may perhaps help leave the door open, even if it is was not the Portuguese’s intention.
