Pedro Caixinha’s Glasgow Rangers brought Carlos Pena to Ibrox in the summer transfer window.
Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has told The Daily Record that there is more to come from Carlos Pena.
Pena joined Scottish club Rangers from Mexican side Guadalajara for a transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £2.2 million.
Much was expected of the Mexico international when he arrived at Ibrox, but the midfielder has struggled to make an impact this season.
The 27-year-old’s performances for Rangers so far have left much to be desired, but manager Caixinha has backed the former Pachuca man to turn on the style for the Gers soon.
“He has much more to give, believe me,” Caixinha told The Daily Record about Pena. “I think he’s at 60 per cent of his capabilities, the way I know him.”
“He is in the top three of the data we collect on a daily basis,” added Caixinha. “That data involves total distance covered, number of sprints, high distance running – and he’s in the top three all the time.”
Pena is a good and talented midfielder, and the Rangers fans will hope that he performs to the best of his ability soon.
The Gers’ performances and results so far this season have been mixed, but they could still finish second in the Scottish Premiership.
The Ibrox outfit are third in the league table at the moment with 14 points from eight matches, six points behind Celtic and Aberdeen, who are first and second respectively in the standings.
