Glasgow Rangers won their first Scottish Premiership game at Ibrox this season after dispatching Dundee 4-1.
Pedro Caixinha has told Rangers’ official website that the only thing he did not like about Rangers’ performance in their win over Dundee was to do with their strategy – and admitted that he was the person to blame for that.
The Gers picked up their first league win in front of their own fans this season, dispatching Neil McCann’s men 4-1 thanks to a brace from Alfredo Morelos, as well as a goal each for Josh Windass and Carlos Pena.
The win moved the Light Blues to within three points of the Scottish Premiership summit, but Caixinha admitted after the contest that despite the result, not everything was perfect about the performance.
“We had a lot of chances and we could have, for sure, scored the second goal earlier which would have allowed us to have much more confidence in those moments which we had later on in stages of the game,” he told the club’s official website.
“The only thing I didn’t like was to do with the strategy in the first-half and it was my fault.
“We stayed a little but unbalanced and allowed some transitions from the opponent because Jack was staying alone down there in the middle of the park.”
The victory should certainly give the Gers a tremendous amount of confidence after a mixed start to the new campaign, which has seen them lose at home to Hibernian and draw against Hearts.
And that boost of confidence has certainly come at the right time as, after two trips to face Partick Thistle – including one in the League Cup – they take on Celtic in the first Old Firm meeting of the season, still looking to collect their first win over the bitter rivals since their return to the top flight.
