Rangers managerial favourite Pedro Caixinha may have dropped a hint on Twitter that he is interested in the role at Ibrox.

Caixinha is the favourite with SkyBet at 4/5 on, with caretaker manager Graeme Murty slipping to 10/1.

The Portuguese manager is the current coach of Qatari side Al Gharafa, where he has been since 2015.

Caixinha this week elected to ‘like’ a post on Twitter from Portuguese journalist Nuno Batista citing an article from newspaper A Bola, linking him to the Rangers job.

The article, entitled ‘Pedro Caixinha is a strong candidate to lead Rangers’ cites the notion that the Al Gharafa boss finds the Ibrox role ‘very tempting.’

Caixinha either is interested to learn of the article, or is vouching for it. Either way it is a hint he is interested.

The 46-year-old has had a varied coaching career to date, winning the Mexican title with Santos Laguna in 2015 and working in Portugal before that.

The Rangers job would be his biggest challenge so far, and handing the role to him would be a bold step from the club’s board.
