Glasgow Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has shed some light on what formation the Ibrox side are likely to play during the coming campaign.
Pedro Caixinha has hinted to Rangers’ official website that the Gers may be likely to begin the new season utilising a 4-4-2 formation, having praised his squad for the way they play in that system.
After a lacklustre start to pre-season – which, of course, included the hugely disappointing defeat to Progres in the Europa League qualifying round – the Light Blues have looked a lot more impressive over the past couple of games, drawing with Ligue 1 side Marseille at the weekend and following it up with a win over Watford.

And Caixinha suggested that the system the team has played has been a crucial factor behind their much more impressive displays – while adding that the team still have the versatility to thrive when playing other systems.
“Totally. The 4-4-2 flat formation is the one the boys feel most confident in and is the once which best-suits the characteristics of the players we have in our squad,” he told the club’s official website.
“We know also we can use some other formations depending on the moments of the game and on the opponent.”
The latest performances will certainly give the Ibrox faithful a lot more optimism and a lot more hope that the coming season can see them do well and perhaps close the gap to Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Though they have been friendlies, they have come at a stage of the summer when teams are beginning to settle on their strongest teams for the upcoming season – so perhaps they can take a significant number of positives from the performances.
And encouragingly for Caixinha – who was starting to come under pressure from the fans following their European exit – it appears that he is also starting to find a formula that should give them a reason to be optimistic ahead of the opening day clash against Motherwell next month.
