Rangers midfielder Josh Windass will reportedly not miss the Old Firm derby against Celtic at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership this coming weekend.

Rangers midfielder Josh Windass made an offensive gesture towards the Partick Thistle fans last week.

The 23-year-old was caught on camera gesturing towards the Partick supporters at the Firhill Stadium during last Friday evening’s Scottish Premiership game between the two teams.

As reported by The Daily Mail, the former Accrington Stanley star has avoided any suspension and is free to feature against Old Firm rivals Celtic at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership this coming weekend.

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha, though, has suggested that he will take action if he finds Windass guilty.

“First of all, I don’t know what he did or not,” Caixinha told The Daily Mail. “But if he did something, of course he needs to understand he cannot do that. That is me with him. But punishment from the SFA is another thing.

“I don’t want my players to behave like that. I want them to be focused on the game because it is inside the pitch where you can change the course of things, not in the stand.”

Windass is a very good midfielder, but Rangers manager Caixinha is right – the 23-year-old needs to be completely focused on his football.

While it must be frustrating if opposition fans boo a player, he needs to remain professional and should let his football do the talking.

Rangers midfielder Windass needs to make sure that opposition fans do not affect him in any way, and that he concentrates on his football all the time.
