Barrie McKay’s contract at Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers is due to expire at the end of next season.

Pedro Caixinha has confirmed at his latest press conference, which was broadcast on Glasgow Rangers’ official Youtube channel, that Barrie McKay’s contract talks are no further along.

McKay’s current deal at Rangers is due to expire at the end of next season, and there is a great deal of uncertainty about his future at Ibrox.

McKay has recently stated that he would like to stay at Rangers, but the Glasgow giants are yet to offer him an acceptable deal.

And Caixinha admits that McKay’s future is no closer to be secured, even though he plans to start the youngster against Aberdeen tomorrow.

“No update,” he said, when quizzed on McKay’s contract. “He’ll probably start the game on Wednesday.

“No [plan to offer him a new contract yet]. We asses the squad. We have spoken to three players. We will speak to the rest this week. On the 21st, everyone is going on vacation. Some will return, others will not.”

Rangers are likely to want to keep hold of McKay, as he is arguably the most exciting talent in their current squad.

The attacker has scored six goals and claimed 11 assists across all competitions for the Light Blues this season.

McKay’s potential availability is starting to alert suitors now, with Nottingham Forest the latest club to be linked with the Rangers’ man (Nottingham Post).

Red Bull Leipzig have also been touted as a potential suitor for McKay, if he opts to leave Ibrox (Daily Record).
