The new Glasgow Rangers boss has been speaking ahead of his first game in charge.
In an interview with Rangers’ official website, new manager Pedro Caixinha has confirmed that he will ensure his coaching team contains at least one Scottish person to ensure a smooth transition.
Caixinha was recently confirmed as the Gers’ new permanent manager with interim boss Graeme Murty signing out with an impressive 1-1 draw away to fierce rivals Celtic on Sunday.
Speaking to rangers.co.uk, the Portuguese boss said, “We are looking to have someone, because this is going to be my third experience of working abroad, and I always look to have one local assistant in order to provide a bridge between the culture, the history and the traditions.”
That is a sensible move from a manager who clearly understands the importance of understanding every facet of life in Scotland and the Scottish game to ensure Rangers get back to the side they once were.
The draw with Celtic is certainly a step in the right direction, but the new man in charge at Ibrox will be under no illusion as to the severity of the task in hand.
Rangers are a long way behind Celtic in the title race this season and only time, patience and a lot of hard work both in the boardroom and on the training field will change that.
