Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has told The Glasgow Evening Times that his side can challenge Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title next season.
Celtic have won the league title with ease this season, and will be favourites to clinch the championship for the seventh year in a row in 2017-18.
Rangers got promoted from the Scottish Championship at the end of last season and are currently third in the Scottish Premiership table.
Caixinha, who was appointed the Gers manager in March, has said that if the club sign the players he wants, then the Ibrox outfit would be able to challenge Celtic for the league title.

“I am happy for us to be compared against Celtic,” Caixinha told The Glasgow Evening Times. “We can challenge Celtic next season, if we bring in these players then we can challenge.
“I’m not going to say the things that the fans want to hear, I only say things that I feel and that I’m confident about saying.
“I want to be realistic, if we get in the right core of players then things will be different for sure. We can compete and to compete at this club is to compete to win.”
Caixinha’s comments are quite bold, and the Portuguese manager certainly looks like someone who has a plan.
However, claiming that Rangers would be able to challenge the Bhoys next season if he is able to bring in the players he wants could come back to haunt him.
Celtic are head and shoulders above the rest of the teams in the Scottish Premiership, and just like Rangers, the Hoops are going to make signings in the summer and further strengthen their squad.
