Pedro Caixinha has told Glasgow Rangers official website that Clint Hill could be a doubt to feature against Celtic at the weekend.

Rangers’ head into arguably their biggest game of the season on Sunday at Hampden Park, looking to win their first Old-Firm derby of the season.

Rangers and Celtic have met four times this campaign, but the Ibrox side have only avoided defeat on one occasion so far.

And Rangers’ chances of making it into the final of the Scottish Cup could have taken a blow as Hill is a fitness doubt.

The experienced defender has picked up a hamstring injury, and Caixinha admitted that the former Queens Park Rangers’ expected return date was not yet clear.

“He’s still recovering and so far today he’s not going to be with us,” the Portuguese boss said. “I don’t know if tomorrow or after tomorrow he’ll able to be with us.

“As I told you we start today preparing for a match on Sunday and if Clint can be with us, perfect, he’s a valuable and experienced player, he’s a warrior and someone who is always looking to help us and always demanding from teammates.

“We like those sort of players and if he can be with us, perfect.

“If not, others will do their jobs in the same way because this is a collective work, this is teamwork and we need to think and keep thinking the same way.”

Hill scored a late equaliser for Rangers in the most recent derby match against Celtic, and his experience could have been key.

Celtic head into the match as the favourites, but Rangers are unbeaten under Caixinha so far, meaning they do have some momentum on their side.
