Marquez hasn’t shown signs of slowing down as he’s still at the top

Pedro Acosta is already making headlines as one of the most sought-after riders for the 2027 MotoGP season, but Marc Marquez remains the top name on everyone’s list.

Marquez reminded everyone why he’s still considered one of the best during 2025. In his debut year with Ducati, he won an incredible 25 out of 36 races, showing no signs of slowing down.

Even so, he hasn’t committed his future to Ducati just yet. He said he wants to see more about their plans for the 2027 bike before making any decisions.

He recently turned 32, which makes him the oldest champion in MotoGP history. There are questions about how much longer he wants to keep going at this level.

With a tenth world title within reach, Max Biaggi thinks that might be exactly what Marquez is waiting for before deciding what comes next.

Pedro Acosta’s agent, Albert Valera, shared his thoughts on the current state of the MotoGP rider market during a recent interview with Motosprint.

With most riders up for contract renewal at the end of 2026 and new regulations coming into play in 2027, there’s expected to be plenty of movement across the paddock.

When asked who he thought would be the first to make a move, Valera said: “I think it will probably be Marc, he is the world champion. He deserves to be the reference of this market, and I think he will be the first to move”.

Of course, talk quickly turned to where Marquez might end up riding in 2027. Valera chose not to speculate on that one.

For Acosta, any decisions about his future are likely to wait until after a few rounds of next season have been completed.

Valera added: “I think that next year there will be a lot of news. It won’t be easy to decide why you can’t evaluate this year’s bike to choose next year’s bike.”

“I believe that this will lead all the riders to try to settle down during the first races of the championship to try and understand which team to work with for the future.”

Ducati could be the perfect fit for Pedro Acosta

Pedro Acosta’s rise through the ranks has made him one of the most sought-after riders in the sport, and Ducati appears to be leading the chase for his signature ahead of next season.

While there have been rumours that a deal is already in place, nothing official has come from either side yet.

Aprilia boss Massimo Rivola has also weighed in, saying he believes Acosta will be wearing Ducati red next year.

The Italian team principal sees potential for a strong partnership between the two Spaniards, calling it “a match made in heaven,” even though some believe their competitive natures could cause tension within the team.
