TalkSPORT pundit Darren Bent has said that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal should try to sign Romelu Lukaku from Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker has said on talkSPORT that Arsenal should sign Romelu Lukaku from London and Premier League rivals Chelsea for one season.

Bent believes that the £325,000-a-week (The London Evening Standard) striker would be able to make an impact at Arsenal like the way Olivier Giroud did.

Bent said: “I said it before when we were speaking in the pre-show meeting about centre forwards that are out there.

“I’m a big fan of Nketiah, I know not everyone is but I think he’s a goalscorer, if you give him opportunities he will score.

“I think Balogun did really well [on loan at Reims] so I think a lot of Arsenal fans are kind of crying out to see what he can do.

“But I even said for a year, if it was an option, I would’ve taken Lukaku. I know a lot of Arsenal fans are probably thinking, ‘Absolutely not!’, but I think I would.

“He’s got pedigree in the Premier League, he’s a big, physical presence, he’s a battering ram. A little bit like when Olivier Giroud was at Arsenal, you can play off him.

“I think that would have been good but if you can’t get him and you don’t fancy Nketiah, you don’t fancy Balogun, there’s not many out there.”

Arsenal should not sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea

In our opinion, Arsenal should not make a bid for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku in the summer transfer window.

We do not think that the former Manchester United striker would be able to make a huge impact at Arsenal and would fit into the way that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta plays his football.

Gabriel Jesus is one of the best forwards in pressing, and Lukaku does not really have those attributes.

True, Jesus is injured at the moment, but that does not mean that Arsenal should go out and sign a striker who is different from the Brazil international.

Moreover, Chelsea may not be willing to send Lukaku to Arsenal.

After all, the Blues would be making the Gunners stronger.

Lukaku spent last season on loan at Serie A giants Inter Milan from Chelsea.

The striker helped Inter reach the final of the UEFA Champions League last season.

Lukaku has made 278 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The striker has scored 121 goals and provided 35 assists in those matches.
