After a stuttering start to the season, Rangers look to have finally kicked into gear.

Rangers fans

Despite a somewhat difficult start to their return to top flight football, Rangers seem to have finally kicked into gear. The disappointment of their 5-1 defeat to Celtic now appears to be drifting into the past and, if anything, the result looks to have given Mark Warburton’s players the motivation they needed.

Things are starting to look up for the Gers, and here are three reasons why.

Andy Halliday celebrates with Kenny Miller after scoring the second goal for Rangers

Kenny Miller: The Scottish veteran is showing no signs of slowing down as he approaches his 37th birthday this Christmas, and after scoring a stunning goal in Rangers’ 1-0 victory against Inverness CT, Miller still looks like he can play a key role for the Gers season.

If Rangers are going to continue to force their way up the table this season, they will need wise heads such as Miller’s, and after scoring his 100th goal for the club, the striker looks to have lost none of his goal-scoring wit.

Ranger's Niko Kranjcar in action with Burnley's Scott Arfield

Kranjcar finding form: After initially struggling to settle into life at the Ibrox Stadium, Croatian midfielder Niko Kranjcar appears to finally be finding his feet.

His goal and performance in Rangers’ 2-0 win against Partick Thistle, as well as another fine show in their most recent match against Inverness, has caught the eye of the Rangers faithful as the former Tottenham play-maker looks to nail down a starting place in Warburton’s side.

Joey Barton applauds fans as he is substituted

An end to the Barton saga: As it becomes increasingly clear that there is no way back for Joey Barton, it looks like an end to this saga is drawing near.

The midfielder was ordered to stay away last month after a reported row with manager, Mark Warburton and teammate, Andy Halliday in the wake of the Gers’ defeat at the hands of their old rivals, Celtic.

Although the suspension was due to finish on the 17th of October, it appears Barton will not be returning to training and remains suspended until further notice. It appears that the wounds inflicted in Barton’s heated exchange are not healing, and perhaps moving on would be best for both parties.
